What`s Apple hiding in its shelf for 2014?

Apple 2013 product line up is mere hardware and software bump from previous models except for the 64bit desktop class A7 processor. Why do they wait for long one+ year?
What are they planning ahead?
What's waiting in their shelves?
Why does they want to release a 64bit desktop class A7 processor in all their products except iPhone 5C?
Why is Mavericks free?
Why is their productivity apps became free on both iOS and OSX?

Apple is a perfectionist will wait until a technology is mature enough and should enhance user experience. Did Apple found a way to combine iOS and OSX into one operating system which might be Apple OS? There are lots of possibilities. Use of 64bit in iPhone 5S, iPad Air, iPad Mini is Apple might want user base to test something under the hood or to attract developers to switch to 64bit apps in 2014. Mavericks is free which attracts more users to its Mac line up. So it's evident that Apple is a game changer they already did it with iPods, iPhones and iPads.

2014 Will be the year for that mystery product it may be a iWatch, iTV, iCar or iSomething. They will definitely enter into living room but not just as a smart TV, 3D TV or a 4K TV but as an iTV.
iPhone 6 Will be the biggest makeover to iPhone since iPhone.

As a Apple enthusiast waiting to see those in near future.

What would you expect from Apple in 2014?

Apple Rumors: Updated Apple TV Coming Soon

Documents filed with the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) reveal that Apple (NASDAQ:AAPL) is readying a re-designed version of its Apple TV media streaming device, TechCrunch notes. The updated device features a faster processor and somewhat smaller exterior casing. Apple recently released a software update for the Apple TV which gave the device the ability to stream music from Cloud-based iTunes storage and the ability to connect with Bluetooth keyboards. Given the FCC filing, the updated Apple TV will likely hit store shelves within weeks.

No Copycats: Apple, which has attracted some criticism for pursuing a wide-array of patent infringement lawsuits against rival mobile devices makers, has now trademarked the design of its chain of retail stores, ZDNet notes. Apple had first applied for a trademark on its store designs in 2010. Last week, the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office granted the application. With the trademark, Apple can prevent other retailers from reproducing retail layouts that possess “a clear glass storefront surrounded by a panelled facade” and “oblong table with stools… set below video screens flush mounted on the back wall.” In recent years, Chinese authorities closed a number of fake Apple Stores that looked sufficiently like real thing that they fooled consumers.
Disguised: Chinese media sources indicate that Apple’s new three-building complex in Shanghai is not a research and development center, AppleInsider notes. According to sources, Apple is recruiting senior supply chain managers to work at the facility, suggesting that the company plans to use the complex as a hub to coordinate shipments from its Southeast Asian suppliers. Previous media accounts had indicated that the center would be dedicated to research and development. Apple products are typically designed at its California facilities and produced by Asian manufacturing partners. The company has experienced supply constraints over the past year as some of its overseas suppliers encountered production problems with its latest generation of super-slim devices, including the iPhone 5, iPad Mini and new iMacs.

Apple’s 2013 in Rumors: Fingerprint Sensors and More Retina Displays, but No iTV

A much slimmer iPad, an iPad Mini with a Retina display and an iPhone with a built-in fingerprint reader could all be on tap for 2013, according to one industry analyst.
As MacRumors reports, KGI Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo has published a research report that tries to predict Apple‘s entire 2013 product lineup. Although analysts tend to have terrible track records with Apple rumors, Kuo is a notable exception.
Let’s do a quick look at some of his past forecasts:
  • Kuo’s January 2011 predictions about the iPad 2, including the dual-core processor, camera specs and screen resolution turned out mostly accurate. (He was off by 0.2 GHz on the clock speed of the A5 chip.)
  • Apple’s iPhone 5 achieved a thickness of under 8 mm, thanks to in-cell touch technology and the use of a metal back plate instead of glass, just as Kuo predicted five months before launch.
  • As Kuo expected, Apple discontinued the 17-inch MacBook Pro last year and redesigned its iMacs, but without Retina displays.
That’s a pretty good track record. So let’s hear out Kuo’s predictions for 2013:
  • The iPhone 5S will be similar to its predecessor, but with a faster processor, a better camera with smart LED flash and a fingerprint reader built into the home button, which would reduce the need for passwords everywhere. Keep in mind that Apple acquired AuthenTec, a maker of fingerprint sensor technology, last year.
  • A cheaper iPhone for prepaid and emerging markets–a popular rumor these days–would be a lot like the iPhone 5, but with a plastic enclosure, available in six colors.
  • The next iPad will be considerably slimmer and lighter. That’d make sense given that Apple had to add bulk to its third-generation iPad to accommodate a Retina display. Kuo expects the iPad Mini to get a Retina display as well this year.
  • Non-Retina display MacBook Pros will meet their maker this year, as Apple moves to an all-Retina lineup at lower prices than before.
  • The MacBook Air line won’t get Retina displays this year, Kuo believes. Their main improvement will be an upgrade to Intel‘s Haswell platform, which will allow for better battery life. Apple’s iMac and Mac Mini line may get a similar upgrade, sans Retina.
  • The fourth-generation iPod Touch will be discontinued, but Apple may sell a cheaper fifth-generation model in its place, with 8 GB of storage and no rear camera, starting at $199.
  • Kuo thinks the Apple TV set-top box will get a refresh, but didn’t offer any details. The fabled Apple television, however, appears to be drifting off to 2014 due to those pesky content issues.
Kuo thinks most of this stuff will happen in the second half of the year, with the exception of a first quarter Apple TV refresh and new MacBook Airs in late Q2.
While there aren’t a lot of wild and crazy things on the list, Apple tends to avoid radical changes to its products, despite conventional wisdom. The fact that most of these predictions are quite reasonable–tame, even–makes me more likely to believe them. The most contentious claims are the less expensive iPhone (which smart Apple watchers no longer dismiss outright) and thumbprint tracking in the iPhone 5S (which at this point just seems like a matter of time). I wouldn’t count on Kuo’s forecast proving 100 percent accurate, but as a rough estimate of what to expect from Apple this year, it works.

Rumour: Apple iTV being tested – and it’s BIG

apple itv
Testing for the Apple iTV is currently underway – and the screen size is likely to be large, if an anonymous source within the supplier is correct.
Focus Taiwan reports that initial testing of Apple’s HDTV set has started at Taiwanese manufacturer Hon Hai, and the source claims that screens between 46 and 55 inches are the likely candidates for any final model. That’s a lot larger than many might have predicted.
The source for the LCDs is likely to be a Japanese or Taiwanese manufacturer, according to the source, who also suggested that the launch of any Apple iTV might be a long way off – perhaps not even happening before the end of next year.
While Apple has never officially confirmed that it is working on a television set, CEO Tim Cook recently told NBC that TV was “an area of intense interest”, the biggest hint yet that something is on the cards.
